Dr. Sanjiv Gupta

Dr. Sanjiv Gupta has spent more than three decades in the corporate sector with experience as Plant Head, at Mahindra& Mahindra (Swaraj Division) and Chief General Manager, at SML ISUZU Ltd. He is an electrical engineer with an M.B.A. in HR and a Ph.D. in Business Management. During his varied responsibilities with industry, he was part of the core team for the installation and commissioning of state-of-the-art equipment, capacity expansion of manufacturing units, and installation of hi-tech equipment as a part of Sustainability and Green initiatives. In addition to his role in the operation of the plant, as head of human resource development, he was responsible for training young engineers and managers for Continuing Professional Development. He carried forward the training process to Tier I suppliers, leading to documented improvement in component quality. He was the Change Manager for the implementation of the activities of TQM as per the levels of Deming Prize Certification – the most prestigious award for excellence in Business Excellence.

This experience has given both learning and insight to train students for the workforce. His expertise is requested by organizations who need mentors and trainers for Project Management. At the Design Innovation Centre, Panjab University, he has mentored groups of students for start-ups and visited industries in Punjab to study their R&D setup and innovation level. Witnessing the struggle of students during their initiation into the professional world, he began to train youngsters for success in the professional sphere through hard and soft skills.AICTE has granted him certification for teaching ‘Universal Human Values’.After his superannuation, he entered the field of academia as a freelance trainer and educator. With more than fifty publications and conference presentations, he is associated with universities, business management institutes, and technical colleges as a trainer for Faculty Development Programmes and is a member of the Board of Studies of universities and Business Schools. Presently he is sharing his corporate experience with students of Punjab Engineering College, Panjab University, Chandigarh and J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology where he is Professor of Practice.
